ABOUT Leah Wangari Mwangi - Muchiri

Leah supports the monitoring, learning research and evaluation for training programs as well as higher education and capacity building initiatives in Africa within the Research Capacity Strengthening Division.

She has been managing projects, designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems and conducting project evaluations since 2009. Her experience spans across various projects including HIV prevention, care and treatment, Cervical cancer, Reproductive health, WASH, Malaria programs, peer education, maternal and child health, micro-enterprise development, local stability initiatives, good governance and capacity building program for various donors including USAID, DFID, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, CDC and various government and private funders.

Leah has a master’s degree in populations studies and a bachelor’s in economics/sociology. She has been a consultant M&E trainer at the Strathmore University. Leah also participated in the formulation of the USAID funded APHIA plus Nairobi – Coast project prevention strategy and was  a member of the NACC-Brazilian BCC/IEC Technical working group and the HIV free generation technical working group.

Leah is open-minded, inquisitive and adopts a critical way of thinking. She is innately curious about how various aspects affect her surroundings. Updating her knowledge is of utmost importance as she strives to transform her scientific queries and hypotheses into a realizable protocol.
