Research Officer
Erick is a research officer within the Human Development (HD) Theme, particularly within the Education and Youth Empowerment (EYE) unit. He supports research-related activities for the Teach Well project implemented in Turkana and Garissa Counties. The project uses evidence-based research to inform policy and advocacy efforts to strengthen the quality and equitable, inclusive Teacher Continuous Professional development (TCPD) that enable school environments in refugee camps and refugee hosting communities to improve the well-being of teachers and learners’ learning outcomes.
He holds a diploma and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from the Nairobi City Centre for Early Childhood Education (CICECE) and the Presbyterian University of East Africa, respectively. He is currently completing his master’s degree in  ECE at Kenyatta University, Kenya. Before joining APHRC, he worked as an Education Specialist at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International, where he focused on building the capacity of education officers, teachers, and youth groups to implement the USAID-funded TUSOME “Let’s Read” Early Grade Reading (EGR) program in primary schools across Kenya. Erick is passionate about embracing research to inform positive decision-making aimed at improving the quality of learning environments at the foundational level.
