National Sanitation Policy Advocacy

The National Sanitation Policy Advocacy (NSPA) seeks to improve sanitation policy and practice in Africa through the review and development of policies in line with the African Sanitation Policy Guidelines (ASPGs).

The project will review in-country policies and institutional and regulatory frameworks, conduct a political economy analysis in the region, and use the findings to support the review and or development of country-specific policies.

Specific Objectives:

  • To strengthen the sanitation policy environment in Africa by aligning national policies with the ASPGs and SDG 6
  • To strengthen national data systems that are useful in monitoring and reviewing policy implementation, while linking them up to regional and global SDG data efforts.
  • To champion gender and social inclusion mainstreaming in sanitation policies and regulatory frameworks in select countries

PROJECT PERIOD:

  • Start Date: May 2021
  • End Date: April 2024
