About this Special Issue
This special issue of the Pan-African Medical Journal showcases research conducted by some of the fellows of the African Doctoral Dissertation Research Fellowship (ADDRF) Program. The ADDRF Program was established in 2008 by the African Population and Health ResearchCenter (APHRC) in partnership with the International Development Research
Centre (IDRC). The goal of the ADDRF is to nurture a critical mass of the next generation of locally well-trained and skilled African researchers and scholars who are committed to the reconstruction of the African academy and to facilitate rigorous policy-relevant research on health systems, governance, equity, and population-related issues in the region.
