Assessing the Gaps in Healthcare and Determining the Feasibility for the Setup of a Social Enterprise – Viwandani Lown Community Health Center, Kenya

Program: Health and Systems for Health

The Assessing the Gaps in Healthcare and Determining the Feasibility for the Setup of a Social Enterprise study aims at identifying gaps in healthcare provision and determine the feasibility of investing and setting up a community health facility that provides high quality care to members of the community in a low-resourced slum setting in Nairobi. The study will describe and determine the healthcare gaps in the study area while exploring the community’s acceptability and willingness-to-pay for good quality healthcare services in their community. It is a collaborative rapid assessment study between the African Population Health and Research Center (APHRC) and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health under the Bernard Lown Scholars in Cardiovascular Health program.

The information from this rapid assessment will be used to make a case for a bigger proposal that will likely fund the investment needed to set up a community healthcare facility that will provide quality care at an affordable price to members of the community.
