Mphatso Steve Kamndaya is a PhD student at the School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He holds an M.Sc in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Malawi. He is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Liz Thomas, Dr. Jo Vearey and Professor Lawrence Kazembe. His PhD research focuses on multiple measurement and analysis of social determinants of health comprising material deprivation factors – unmet needs related to urban housing, food and medical care – and how they shape young people’s involvement in transactional sex and multiple sexual partnerships in disadvantaged urban communities. He teaches at the Polytechnic, University of Malawi.
