The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out high quality, policy-relevant research on population, health and education issues facing sub-Saharan Africa. Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action to improve the lives of all Africans. APHRC seeks to recruit a temporary research officer to manage one of its projects.
Conduct literature review of existing policies based on agreed framework
Contribute in the development of qualitative tools
Participate to the development and review of research tools
Lead translation of research tools and development of field and training manuals.
Lead the recruitment, training and supervision of field interviewers
Participate in community mobilization in relation to the research project
Coordinate all project and field logistical activities pertaining to the project including ethical reviews, research permits, meetings, transport etc.
Coordinate day to day field activities in the execution of the research project to ensure timely implementation of field operations including ensuring that field staff has the necessary supplies for the execution of the project.
Conduct spot checks and ensure all data quality procedures are implemented in the field
Support development of research proposals
Contribute to data processing
Participate in scientific paper writing
Strong conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to analyze and interpret large data sets
Proactive and self-motivated
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in demography, population studies, health promotion or any related discipline.
Experience in conducting desk reviews
Excellent scientific writing skills
