The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out high quality, policy-relevant research on population, health and education issues facing sub-Saharan Africa. Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action to improve the lives of all Africans. The Center seeks to recruit a field coordinator to work within its Data, Measurement and Evaluation unit.
Duties and Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for HDSS data quality;
Coordinate review of HDSS instruments;
Supervision of HDSS field team – oversee performance of HDSS field staff and ensure quality data is collected efficiently;
Monitoring and evaluation of field staff performance;
Develop an annual work plan for the HDSS;
Manage the logistical issues for HDSS data collection before and during each round;
Liaison between field teams and office staff involved in HDSS data production and use;
Support activities of the Community Advisory Committees (CACs) in liaison with Community Development Officer;
Lead training of field staff for HDSS and nested studies on NUHDSS field operations;
Liaise with project teams for nested studies to enhance the quality of data from nested studies and HDSS by resolving inconsistencies; and
Produce field reports.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Public Relations, Social Sciences or related field;
3 years’ post qualification experience, preferably in a research institution;
Good knowledge of and significant experience working in a Health and Demographic Surveillance System;
Excellent writing and presentation skills; and
