Sheru Wanyua Muuo

Research Officer

Prior to joining APHRC, Sheru worked in the Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) department of Nagasaki University Institute of Tropical Medicine – Kenya Medical Research Institute for over 6 years. She started as an intern at the Kenya Medical Research Institute – Wellcome Trust Program.

Sheru has experience in developing data collection tools, management and analysis of longitudinal data from the Kwale and Mbita HDSS sites. She supported projects in areas of maternal, child health, nutrition, and water and sanitation. Sheru has published several papers on the HDSS data, and received awards to present at different conferences.

Sheru is currently focusing on 3 projects at APHRC: Violence against Women and Girls, Improving Access to Reproductive Health Services for Adolescent Girls and Young Women and Evaluation of the DREAMS Project in two Nairobi Slums.

Sheru obtained a MSc. in Public Health from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a BSc. in Biochemistry degree from the University of Nairobi. She is passionate about research that will positively impact the health and lives of people in Africa.
