Samuel Maina

Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Samuel works as a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) officer in the CARTA program of the Research Capacity Strengthening Division at APHRC.

He is involved in design, development and management of M&E systems in line with the Center’s strategic plan. Samuel provides technical advice in design, implementation, evaluation and impact assessment strategies to positively influence the impact of the CARTA program in the region.

Samuel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and a post-graduate certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation. Samuel has previous experience working in the public and private sectors as an M&E specialist at PSI Sudan in Juba and the Ministry of Health, Kenya strengthening health programs at community level.

Samuel is motivated by the Story of the Hummingbird as told by his mentor the late Professor Wangari Maathai from where he draws his guiding principles and attitudes to life.
