Gaye Agesa

Advocacy Project Manager

Gaye is the Advocacy Project Manager for a five year program on enhancing local immunization advocacy and communication in Africa.  The program will work through strengthened civil societies that will encourage governments in sub-Saharan Africa to increase domestic financing of immunization.

Gaye has extensive experience in social campaigns, strategic communications management, and media advocacy and has worked for different sectors; from private, government and INGOs.  Prior to joining APHRC, Gaye worked for Plan International Kenya as Communication Manager.  She has an MA in Communications from the University of Westminster, London, an MBA in Marketing from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kenyatta University.

Gaye believes that development starts with ‘me’. Every individual’s positive input, however minor, contributes towards a larger cause.

After years of not communicating in French, Gaye is taking lessons to refine her rusty French so that she is able to work easily with civil societies in Francophone countries for the period of this exciting immunization advocacy project.
