Veloshnee Govender

Veloshnee Govender is currently a lecturer in the Health Economics Unit, School of Public Health and Family Medicine, University of Cape Town, SA. She has worked previously as a research consultant at the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore, India) and her work primarily focused on maternal health, health systems research and equity issues in India. She has also worked as a public health specialist for the Global Forum for Health Research (Geneva, Switzerland) and the Initiative for Cardiovascular Health Research in the Developing Countries (New Delhi, India). She holds an MPH in International Health from Boston University and an M.Com in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town and is currently completing her PhD. Her PhD is focusing on the relationships of trust between patients and healthcare providers and ways in which these relationships are influenced by gender in the context of tuberculosis in primary care settings in Cape Town, South Africa.

Research interests: Health system reform and financing, gender and equity issues in the context of TB/HIV/AIDS.
