Tivani

Tivani is a qualified Medical Biological Scientist currently employed as a Lecturer in Public Health Medicine at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN). She completed her honours degree in Applied Biomedical Science at the University of Surrey and her professional training in National Health Service (NHS) pathology laboratory services, UK. Post-lab training and state registration as Biomedical Scientist, she worked as a Biomedical Scientist in St Georges Hospital and Maidstone and Tunbridge Well NHS Trust, UK. During this period, she completed a post-graduate diploma in Biomedical Science with the University of Greenwich, London, UK. Tivani returned to South Africa in 2013 and registered for MMedSci at the UKZN. In completion of the MMedSci in 2014, she joined post-graduate courses in Biostatistics and Epidemiology which was offered by the UKZN College of Health Sciences and worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Rural Health, UKZN.

Tivani registered for her PhD studies in the department Public Health Medicine, UKZN in May 2014. Her PhD project is aimed at evaluating the accessibility and utility of HIV-related point-of-care (POC) diagnostics for maternal health in rural South Africa.
