Samantha Edwards

Samantha has worked in the field of HIV since 2006 and has exposure to clinical trial, social science and implementation science research as well as public health systems implementation. Samantha is currently the Technical Head of Monitoring and Evaluation, at Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (RHI) in South Africa. With her approximately ten years of experience working in the NGO/academic arena Samantha’s work extends from developing M&E strategies, plans and frameworks, responding to donor requirements, and grant writing, to compiling M&E resource and capacity strengthening material and programmes. Aside from her role within RHI, Samantha provides collaborative assistance to all levels of the South African Department of Health.

Samantha’s research interest lies in men’s health. Her PhD is focusing on truck driver health and healthcare usage profiling and is titled: “A process evaluation of South African Roadside Wellness Clinics for truck drivers”. In addition to working in South African implemented programmes, Samantha has experience in working in collaborative projects and evaluating a regionally implemented healthcare intervention for priority populations. Samantha’s work has been presented at national and international conferences.
