Research governance and management are very important aspects in growing a positive institutional research environment. Research output and faculty citations is widely recognized as a demonstration of an institution’s scientific aptitude and accounts for 20 to 30% of global ranking criteria for universities. Strong research governance processes are important for creating and nurturing a robust research environment.
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) has created a tailor made research governance and management workshop aimed at equipping university and organizations research leaders with skills to diagnose institutional research governance processes and to find ways or strengthen their institutions’ research structures.
Participants can expect to gain a thorough understanding of best practices for governance and management of research processes and quality assurance that will impact on institutional research rigor. APHRC is a leading pan-African research institution committed to conducting high quality, policy relevant research and strengthening professional and institutional research capacity in Africa. APHRC is the winner of the 2015 United Nations Population Award which comes as a recognition of the outstanding contribution to policy-relevant research. In its 15 years of existence, APHRC has published nearly 450 articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 100 technical reports and policy briefing papers, trained nearly 300 PhD fellows and over 40 post-doctoral fellows. APHRC continues to shape policy discourse around developmental issues affecting Africa.
The research governance and management workshop offers you an opportunity to interact with top African Scientists and network with other research leaders from academic and research institutions as well as government agencies and organizations implementing development programs.
